SUICIDE BOMBING

Suicide bombing is very common throughout the world. Pakistan is no exception. The suicide attack is carried out by a person who knows that his act will result in his own death. In suicide bombing, a person kills himself by expanding a bomb, thus killing his target. This target may be a person, a gathering or some public place. It is, in fact, a form of terrorism. The purpose is to terrorize the public, to take revenge on someone, or to challenge the writ of the government to indicate that to indicate that it has failed to provide security to its citizens. During the last few years, Pakistan has been a victim of a number of suicides attacks on public, politicians, police, other law-enforcing, agencies, and certain buildings. There may be many reasons for such attacks. First, persons making such attacks may be desperate. Some of them belong to very neglected sections of society. Poverty and unemployment force them to kill themselves and others whom they hold responsible for their condition. Secondly, some of the suicide bombers are found suffering from physical or mental disability. To end their miseries, they explode themselves. They believe that by doing so they can end misery from the world. They kill others to glamorize their act of sacrifice. Thirdly, some are hired by some agencies, political radicals, and religious extremists. They are promised financial support to their families, employments to their children, or entry to heaven in case they kill themselves by killing the target. The radical elements misinterpret Islamic teachings and create pockets of support. Fourthly, such attacks may be a reaction against lack of genuine democracy, education, good governance, against nepotism, corruption, dearness, injustice and un-employment in the country. Whatever may be the causes, suicide bombing is a cruel act against humanity. Islam is strictly against killing oneself or others. Islam is a religion of peace; in Islam, killing a man unjustly is equal to killing the whole of the humanity. The Holy Quran tells the Muslims: “do not kill yourself” and warns that those who disobey will be “cast into fire.” Our Holy Prophet (PBUH) is also reported to have said that a person who commits suicide cannot go to paradise. Suicide attacks on innocent civilians are also a violation of fundamental human rights adopted Geneva Convention of U.N.O.
