It is a treasure we should always remember to protect and take good care of. Physical health allows us to work efficiently. It is the energy that gives us power to work and achieve our goals. Human body is a gift of Allah. It is like a machine. No inventor or mechanic can make such a perfect machine. Health is the most precious gift for man in the world. Without health, one cannot enjoy the joys and pleasure of life. Much of our happiness and success in life depend on our health. The rules of health are proper kind of food, exercise, cleanliness, fresh air, clean water, and proper span of sleep. Food does the same to the body as the fuel does to a machine. A car needs petrol or gas to run. In the same way, the human body requires food because it provides energy to the body. It enables the body organs to perform different functions. Food consists of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, minerals, liquids and vitamins. Fats and oils are found in animal fats, milk, butter, cheese, nuts, cream, and vegetables oil. They are useful to keep the body warm and repair and renew the fatty tissues. In the same way minerals and vitamins also play an important role in keeping the body healthy and strong. Deficiency of vitamins creates different diseases in the body. Iron is important for transporting oxygen around the body and helps to prevent infections. Red meat is the best source of iron. Other meats like chicken and fish also contain iron. Iron can also be found in leafy in green vegetables, legumes and iron-enriched breakfast cereals. Calcium is important for the development and maintenance of bones and teeth, neuromuscular function and heart function. Milk and butter milk products like cheese, yogurt and custards are the major sources of calcium in our diet. Non-milk foods that contain useful amounts of calcium are leafy green vegetables, whole grain cereals and breads, kidney beans, chickpeas, lentils and fresh fruit juice. A balanced diet is important to maintain health and a reasonable body weight. No single food will provide all the essential nutrients that the body needs to be healthy and function efficiently. A balanced diet should contain protein, fats, carbohydrates, iron and fiber in the form of fresh vegetables, fruits and fresh drinking water, all in the right amounts, providing us with a good supply of amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins, minerals etc.
