MICROSOFT WINDOWS DESKTOP:

DESKTOP:Microsoft windows operating system start automatically when you turn on your computer. Windows takes from 1 to 3 minutes to load when you turn on the computer and while it loads, you see message and introductory graphics on the screen. When the windows finishesloading, you can see the windows desktop. It looks like the surface of the desk where objects are placed so that action can be initiated when they are executed. Desktop contains icons and a task bar at the bottom.

Icon: Small pictorial representation of programs on the desktop is called icons. They are simply clicked with the mouse button to activate its action. There are number of icons which you will come across while working in windows.

START BUTTON AND START MENU:

The start menu is our gateway to the application on our computer. It is the one of the most important tools we will use while working with windows. To start any other program, use the start button. The start button on the taskbar displays the startmenu, a list of command that allows us to start program, open a document, change a window setting, find a file or display the support information. Windows allows searching the start menu to find installed programs and other windows items, such as control panel items, programs, Documents and music, websites you have visited, contacts, email messages and appointments.

TASK BAR:`` The task bar is the small blue bar we see at the bottom of our desktop. It contains the start menu and the quick launch bar, which contains icons for internet explorer, windows media player and show desktop. Usually we open a program to perform a task. If you think of each open program as a task, the task bar is a tool that lets youmanage those tasks. Each program you open has a title bar at the top, which shows the program’s icon (symbol) and usually the name of the program as well. For each open program, you will find a corresponding button on the task bar that shows the same icon and name.NOTIFICTION AREA:

The box on the right is called the notification area. Here, you will find the clock and several other icons, depending on what you have installed on your computer. Other icons appear in the notification area detailing the status of your activity. For example, when you’re printing a document, a printer icon appears. Microsoft also uses the notification area to remind you when software’s updates are available for download.

WINDOWS TABS:

When you open or minimize a window or program, a rectangular button appears on the task bar that shows the name of application. These buttons disappear when you close the window.

ICONS ON THE DESKTOP:

The following icons are usually available on the windows desktop

COMPUTER:

A special icon in which you can view the contents of the computer. It is a file management window in which you can browse all the drives disk drives and file and folder on your computer.
