AUTO HIDING AND DISPLAYING THE TASK BAR:

The amount of room you have on the desktop is really prime real estate. So instead of leaving the task bar showing all the time you may prefer to hide it when you do not need it. You can do this easily, and have it appear adjust the right moments by making a few simple changes.

To auto hide and display the task bar, follow these steps:

1.     Right click in a blank area of task bar.

2.     Click properties.

3.     Click the auto hide the task bar check box.

4.     If you want to lock the task bar in this auto hide task bar state, click the lock the task bar check box.

5.     Click ok.

MOVING THE TASK BAR:

By default, the task bar appears along the bottom of your desktop, but you can move it to a different area of the screen if you like.

To move the task bar, follow these steps:

1.               Right click in a blank area of task bar. A context menu will appear.

2.               Click properties.

3.               Click the task bar location on screen arrow.

4.               Click the option that reflects where you would like to position the task bar.

5.               Click applies to preview your changes.

6.               Click ok to save the changes.

CHANGING THE LOOK OF THE TASK BAR:

Most computer show the start button as well as a number of window standards window explorer, window media player and window live messenger, pinned to the task bar just to the right of start. You can change the appearance of icons as well as their order on the task bar and get just the look you want as you work with the programs and files you need.To change the look of the task bar, follow the instruction below:

1.               Right click the task bar. A context menu will appear.

2.               Choose properties.

3.               Click use small icons or buttons.



COMPUTER PORTS;

If we look at the back of the system unit, we will see some ports which provide facility to connect external peripheral devices to communicate with computer like mouse, keyboard, printer etc.

 

SERIAL PORT:

A serial port is used to connect external modems or an older computer mouse to the computer. It comes in two versions (on the left) or a 25 pin model. The 9 pin is found on most new computer. Data travels over a serial port at 115 kilobits per second.

PARALLEL Ports:A parallel port is used to connect external devices such as scanners and printers. The 25 pin port is sometime it is called a printer port.

PS/2 PORT:A PS/2 port, sometime called mouse port, was developed by IBM. It is used to connect a computer mouse or key board.

 

MS WINDOWS OR MICROSOFT WINDOWS:Microsoft window is the computer operating system. The operating system function as our computer brains; it tells us about our computer what to do and how to do it. An operating system is required by every computer in order to enable it to perform basic function such as receiving input from the keyboard and mouse, sending output tothe monitor, accessing files and programs and controlling data storage devices and peripherals devices or input output devices (I/O devices). Windows operating system acts as the interface between you and your computer. You tell your computer what to do by means of a graphical user interface (GUI) that helps you work in an intuitive, visual way, such as choosing commands by clicking graphic representations. The windows operating system provides an easy way for you to work with your computer without knowing anything about its inner working.The operating system interacts with software programs installed on your computer and enables your computer to communicate with other computers and peripherals devices such as printers, scanners and modems. Windows includes several basic programs such ascalculator, outlook express, paint, WordPad, Microsoft word, Microsoft excel, Microsoft publisher, Microsoft PowerPoint and a variety of games. Programs such as these are not part of the operating system and are not essential to the operation of your computer; instead, they build on the basic operating system functionally so you can perform more complex operations. We can purchase or download from the internet other programs such as Microsoft office word, Microsoft office PowerPoint, Microsoft office publisher, Microsoft office picture manager, Microsoft office outlook and Microsoft office excel, Microsoft office access, Microsoft office clip organizer, Microsoft office InfoPath designer, Microsoft office InfoPath filler, Microsoft office language preferences, Microsoft office upload center and Microsoft office OneNote to add further functionality to your computer. The first version of Microsoft windows, version 1.0, was released in November 1985. Almost 80 to 90 percent of the world computer runs Microsoft windows. Many of the Windows’s version has been released for example; windows 3.0, windows 3.11, windows 95, windows 98, windows NT, windows 2000, windows XP (home edition and professional), windows vista, window 7, windows8 and latest version windows 10.
