ANS: Social control is a concept within disciplines of the social sciences. …Formal means of social control-External sanctions enforced by government to prevent the establishment of chaos or anomie in society. Some theorists, such as Emile Durkheim, refer to this form of control as regulation.
Some of the types of social control are as follows:
Force of habit as well as from his desire of being accepted and approved by other persons.
If he is inadequately localized, he has a tendency to deviate from the accepted ways, but he is forced towards conformity by the pressures of social control. According to Kimball Young, it is necessary “to bring about conformity, solidarity and continuity of a particular group or society”. It is possible only through social control. Society has to make use of its mechanism o accomplish the necessary order and discipline.

a) Direct social control:
In this type of social control which directly regulates and control the 2ocializ of the individual is called direct social control. This type of control is to be found in family, neighbors, teachers, classmates, etc… keep control over the 2ocializ of the individuals.
